Our story

Hi — we're Michael & Shelby

We're Michael and Shelby Carselowey, and we're huge animal lovers. We spoil our own girls — Bella and Luna — every chance we get, so we started Prairie Bones to spread that love and build something fun to share with other animal people like you.

A little behind the scenes: Prairie Bones is our own company, and we partner with Medicine Lodge Meat Co., the Kansas beef company Michael co-owns — real beef, slow-roasted in small batches. Shelby also runs her own bookkeeping business, Evergreen Consulting, keeping our whole little family of companies in line.

Thank you for supporting a small business, and for letting us be a little part of spoiling your fur baby. It means the world to us.

Chew safety & disclaimer

Please let your dog chew safely

Bones are a natural chew, not a toy — and any chew carries some risk. Here's how we ask you to use ours, because your dog's safety comes first.

Prairie Bones are a treat, not a meal replacement. Always supervise your dog while chewing. Take the bone away if it wears down to a size that could be swallowed. Not for aggressive chewers prone to cracking teeth. Introduce new chews gradually. The information on this site is not veterinary advice — consult your veterinarian with any concerns, and use is at your own discretion.

Questions we get asked

Where are Prairie Bones chews made?

In Kansas. Prairie Bones is based in Andover, Kansas, and the chews are made at a family-run USDA meat plant in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Nothing is imported.

What is in The Prairie Bones Bag?

Ten pieces of slow-roasted beef — a mix of pipe bones, knuckles, tracheas and tendons. One ingredient: beef. No additives, no fillers, nothing added.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is a $6.99 flat rate, and it is free on orders of $49 or more. We ship to the lower 48 United States.

How long does an order take to arrive?

Everything is made fresh to order, so orders typically ship within 5 to 10 days rather than same-day. Every order ships with USPS tracking and we email you the tracking number.

Do you accept returns or offer refunds?

We stand behind every order. Because our treats and chews are made fresh they can’t be restocked, but if something arrives damaged or wrong, email us within 7 days of arrival with a photo and we’ll make it right. If a package isn’t delivered, we’ll sort it out using the carrier’s tracking. See our full return policy →

Does Prairie Bones sell wholesale to retailers?

Yes. We sell to retailers, groomers, vets, feed stores and boutiques. Wholesale orders ship free to the contiguous 48 states, and local partners get a free display with their first order. Case pricing is quoted to approved accounts only — apply with your resale or wholesaler license and we review it, usually quickly. Private labeling is coming soon. Apply to carry Prairie Bones →
